Camp Descriptions

Basic Shooting Camp Information

Learn the most current, most effective technique for shooting a basketball more accurately and consistency from the free throw line, while increasing your shooting knowledge and potential for improved jump-shooting performance as well. Learn how to shoot a “true” jump-shot versus, what we have identified as, a “push-shot”. Learn effective post moves from either side of the lane both with and without the dribble. Learn more about the game by learning to play multiple positions on the court and increasing your marketability instead of narrowing your knowledge and performance and decreasing your marketability by being “slotted” or “numbered.”

Basic Shooting Camp Syllabus

Shot Perfect Shooting Camps begin by videotaping participants from 4 different angles simultaneously while shooting a free throw. Participants attend a class where they are introduced to: the Shot Perfect Shooting Technique, the information and the sciences supporting it, problem identification and proven problem solving techniques.

Following the classroom portion of the camp, the videotape of each participant shooting a free throw is reviewed and analyzed by a Shot Perfect Shooting Analyst. Upon seeing the videotape, most participants are, almost immediately, able to accurately identify their own shooting problems and now know what problem-solving techniques are needed for optimal shooting performance. Participants are then provided practice time as each participant is assisted applying the Shot Perfect Shooting Technique by a member of the Shot Perfect Staff. Once participants are seen shooting the ball more accurately and consistently, they are videotaped and analyzed again.

Participants are then introduced to specific drills both on and off the court. These drills are specifically designed to enhance the shooting knowledge and performance using the Shot Perfect Shooting Technique. (Much like a baby must first learn how to stand and/or walk before running, a good shooter must first learn how to shoot an accurate and consistent free throw before learning how to shoot a “true” accurate and consistent jump-shot.) Participants are then introduced to a “true” jump-shot versus a “push” shot, as well as where, on the court, these higher and lower percentage jump-shots are taken. Participants are introduced to basic post moves including how to shoot a proper jump-hook and hook-shot. Participants learn how to identify their own strengths and weaknesses as well as their opponents and learn where and when their strengths and weaknesses should be used in game situations. (Learning how to shoot the ball accurately and consistently ALSO teaches participant’s how to better defend other shooters more effectively including how to block shots with less chance of fouling). Participants then take a short post-test. This test allows us the opportunity to evaluate each participants shooting knowledge before they leave camp. This lets us know they have the intelligence to continue working towards shooting the perfect shot even if they choose not to do so. Participants are introduced to future camp opportunities at discounted rates (“Tune-Up” Camps). They learn and play a competitive game of “Rollback”. The camp concludes with a group picture and the presentation of the Rollback Championship Plaque.

These players decide for themselves whether to attend the entire camp or just certain sections. Our Basic Camp Syllabus can be seen on line at www.shotperfect.com. The objective of this camp is to review the Shot Perfect Shooting Technique and the information and sciences supporting it. Review problem identification and proven problem solving techniques. Participants are videotaped again from 4 different angles simultaneously and re-analyzed. Participation at these camps helps ensure each participant does not developed any new or adverse shooting habits that may prevent them from reaching their ultimate shooting performance.
